A member asked:

I have a kidney infection and the doctor just switched me from tylenol (acetaminophen) with codine to hydrocodone. which medication is stronger?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hydrocodone: Is more potent, in that 7.5 mg of hydrocodone is the equivalent of 30 mg of codeine. More importantly, hydrocodone is better absorbed, gets into the brain faster, so it provides more pain relief sooner, and has fewer side effects (itching, flushing, nausea, hives, diarrhea) than codeine.
