Graduation: So anti embolism stocking were designed to work in bed at a uniform pressure for the whole leg. Usually a small pressure like 8- 12 mmhg . They are not designed for, as effective when worn upright. More formal compression stocking are for upright and moving around and they are usually higher pressures.
