Why should people with peripheral vascular disease avoid wearing anti-embolism stockings?

No: Anti-embolsim stockings can cause further decrease in blood circulation in the legs and cause ischemia to the legs.

Mostly myth: Unless a person has extremely severe peripheral arterial disease, there is no concern about having them wear anti-embolism stockings. They have so little pressure that they will not effect blood flow in anyone other than those with extraordinarily bad blood flow to their lower legs.
