But not arteries: As a wound specialist I use compression stockings for leg edema due to venous insufficiency or chronic lymph edema but never for arterial problems as they can exacerbate artererial disease. You should always be sure that they are not being used for fluid overload kidney or liver dz which may also cause leg swelling.
