Atheroscler hi aldo: 46 person asks if atherosclerosis can cause high aldosterone. Yes if the atherosclerosis involves a rusty spot in the renal artery causing low blood pressure to the kidney and high blood pressure in your body. The fall in BP to the kidney causes high renin levels which increase aldosterone levels.
