Reproduce pain: Lumbar discography is procedure performed in attempt to identify which lumbar level(s) is/are responsible for your back pain. Typically done when not definitive based on physical exam and other imaging (exe. MRI, CT scans). Long thin needles placed in lumbar disks (typically 3/4, 4/5, & 5/1 levels). Contrast injected under X-ray to see what disc looks like & if reproduces your pain.
