Safe: There are no known biologic risks from mri. No delayed sequelae from mr examination have been encountered; it is expected that the potential risk for any delayed sequelae is extremely small or nonexistent. Mri is not believed to be hazardous to the fetus. Generally, MRI is avoided during the first trimester when feasible. Gadolinium (mr contrast) is not recommended for use during pregnancy.
