General anesthesia: In most cases, it is general anesthesia (complete unconsciousness), during which the breathing is supported by means of an airway, usually breathing tube, which is inserted and removed without you being aware of it..

General anesthesia: Diagnostic laparoscopy involves small incisions and inflating the abdomen with CO2 so that the surgeon has room to examine and operate. This would be very uncomfortable if the patient wasn't completely asleep under general anesthesia. The abdominal muscles need to be completely relaxed for the patient's safety and for the surgeon to have good operating conditions. GA works very well.
