Under X-ray: The Interventional Radiologist administers local anesthesia and puts a catheter into the uterus, then a smaller catheter into the fallopian tube with the aim of clearing out any debris which clogs the tube. There may be some cramping but the procedure is not particularly painful. I ask my patients to premedicate with Motrin or a similar OTC medication
