A member asked:

I am getting intraocular cataract lens implants wednesday! bifocal or monofocal, what's the difference?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bifocal Implants: Patients who have monofocal implants with their cataract surgery usually require at least part time glasses: for either distance or near tasks. A bifocal implant has both distance and near powers in it to allow focus at both distances. Many patients with bifocal implants ill not need glasses after surgery.
