Dr. Theodore Davantzis answered

Specializes in Dentistry

Pediatric Dentist: A pedodontist is a dentist who specializes in treating children. Since the extent of the decay is unknown, treatment can range from simple fillings to extractions if the teeth are hopeless. Best bet is to make an appointment for the child to be examined.

Only way is . .: The only way to treat decaying teeth is to see a dentist. Depending on the office and age of the child, some offices will see and treat a child, while other offices may refer the younger patients to a pedodontist or children's dentist. To prevent decay, good oral hygiene and diet is a must as well as control or elimination of any habits that may be contributing to decay.
