A member asked:

What does a "high" (23) "bun/creatinine ratio" mean for an otherwise healthy person? worried. can't get good explanation from my doctor.

Dehydrated?: This all depends on the clinical context. But the most common reason someone would have a high bun/cr ratio on routine blood work if they are feeling otherwise fine is being mildly dehydrated. More concerning reasons include having a bleed into the stomach (which you would likely know about!) or anything that could cause the kidneys to not be getting enough blood to do their job.
