Can be both,,,: This isn't included in a CBC result as a count but can be part of a peripheral blood smear result as an observation, like "reticulocytes present", especially in patients with anemia. A blood counter in the laboratory can get a reticulocyte count by using a fluorescent dye on the red cells. This is done as a separate test. You can see your doctor for more information.
