Varies: There are many potential causes, many of them are quite benign, but you may want to be seen just to make sure it is not something serious. A pulmonary embolus, although not terribly common, can cause similar complaints and is potentially life threatening. More common causes would be pluerisy, pneumonia, periscapular bursitis, and a thoracic radiculopathy. An exam can usually tell the cause.
