See answer: Urinary retention and incomplete bladder emptying is a common problem in both sexes, especially with aging and in males because of enlarged prostate. Any disease that affects the nerves to the bladder, with diabetes being one of the most common, can cause retention problems. However, if you don't have diabetes, then ur bladder problem has another cause, and 'diabetic bladder' would be a misnomer.
