A member asked:

Would an ultrasound detect an aneurysm anywhere?

Possibly: It is not clear from your question whether you are asking whether any ultrasound would detect any aneurysm. In that case, the answer would be no; the ultrasound must be directed to the area of specific concern. Aneurysms in the aorta, the carotid arteries, or the leg or abdominal arteries are easily detected by ultrasound. Aneurysms in the brain require other imaging techniques.

Yes: Ultrasound is an adequate screen for abdominal aortic aneurysm . Its safe and economical. It has its limitations and i would reccomend a cat scan with contrast for definitive diagnosis.
