A member asked:

Hi doctors, can you tell me what is pulmonary hypertension?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

High bp: This is high blood pressure in the arteries in the lung. It can be due to thickening of the walls of the arteries causing them to be noncompliant. (there is also pulmonary hypertension if the left side of the heart has high pressure transmitting backward but that is a different case) this pressure has to be overcome by the right heart to pump blood through.
