A member asked:

Hi doctors, was just wondering what is branchycephaly and does it cause any brain damage?

Head shape: Brachycephaly is flattening of the back of the head. It has nothing whatsoever to do with brain function.

Not usually: l believe you mean brachycephaly, which is foreshortened head resulting from premature fusion of coronal sutures of skull. Cosmetically skull will look broader and short from front to back. Usually problems with brain development occur when multiple sutures are fused. Surgery has to be done to allow brain to grow. Sometimes surgery is done for cosmetic reasons.,
