Need a simple explaination for this. what is skin grafting?

Skin transfer: Skin is harvested from one site as a partial thickness graft, most commonly the lateral thigh, and transferred to an open wound where it should heal and allow for coverage of the wound with healthy skin. The donor site will heal in on its own as most layers of the skin remain.
