Can you tell me about complications of acute periodontitis?

Many: Systemic infection is probably the biggest risk. Oral pathogens in your bloodstream can cause all kinds of medical complications, especially if you are diabetic or have a compromised immune system. Tooth loss is another complication that is possible depending on how compromised your remaining alveolar bone is. Get it treated asap!

Aggressive bone loss: Since the condition is acute, the bone destruction usually rapid and needed to be resolved as fast as possible. Strict oral hygiene encourage, with scaling and root planning, follow up, and possible laser therapy and/or periodontal surgery. See your dentist.
