Ask Your Dr.: When your orthodontist gives your elastics, he/she will instruct you on how many hours per day you are required to wear them. If you don't know, please call the orthodontic office and ask.

Ask Orthodontist: Your orthodontic specialist will tell you how many hrs/day you need to wear your elastics. They only work if they are in your mouth. It's like medicine, it only works if you take it. We normally ask our patients to wear elastics 24 hrs/day, 25 if possible. It's quite simple. Do you want to get your braces off as soon as possible? If so, follow directions to the letter. Don't cheat yourself.

You do: Wearing elastics on average 20 hours per day is most effective.
