Constipation: Adhesions can slow transit time of the intestines leading to constipation, abdominal pain, and bloating. Add narcotics to the picture and it can be made worse. If the narcotics are for pain supposedly related to the adhesions, then you need to have further workup to figure out why and where this is occurring in your intestinal tract and surgically repairing it. An upper GI series might be done.

Numerous. But...: It's hard to tell from the way your question is worded. The long-term effects are physical and emotional dependence and increased tolerance to those and other narcotics. But, if you needed surgery for an "undiagnosed" potential surgical problem, your surgeons and anesthesiology care team would ensure you got as much pain relief as you needed to ensure safety and comfort. Really.
