Can you tell me about tailor's bunions and surgery for them?

Sure: The term arises from old time tailors who used to sit cross-legged to sew. The outside edge of their feet would get sore. The bump is actually the end of the 5th metatarsal behind the little toe. Initially avoid tight shoes, ice, nsaids, padding, etc. If this doesn't help, surgery is indicated. Depending on the degree of deformity either the bump is removed or the entire bone is cut and realigned.

Have it evaluated: Conservative options include the use of toe spacers, strapping, orthoces, and use of more comfortable shoes. If you do not have significant relief of pain surgical management is also an option. Surgery should be considered if you have exhausted your conservative options.
