The cranial nerves: I controls smell; ii vision; iii, iv, and vi all control eye movement; v controls part of the face sensory and muscle; vii is the main facial nerve and controls facial movements; viii is the auditory and vestibular (balance) nerve; xi controls part of the throat & tongue; x controls the gag reflex and parasympathetic function; xi controls the large strap muscle on the side of the neck; xii tongue.
