A member asked:

Could you explain sleep hypoxia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hypoxia: All of us do have some degree of decreasing our oxygen level and some desaturation during sleep, due to depression of the respiratory center and by weight of our chest and lack of effort some degree of atelectasis. If the oxygenation goes low enough as in sleep apnea, then there is hypoxia, or in people who have lower oxygen level to start with like copd.
