A member asked:

My dr says he will do a procedure on my chalazion if it does not go away. what does this involve? will i need an antibiotic ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Incision;drainage: Chalazia that don't resolve after conservative treatments involving warm compresses, baby shampoo cleansing ; massage with or without a trial of Doxycycline antibiotics, may require an office procedure of incision ; drainage of the chalazion (with a local anesthetic). An antibiotic/steroid combination prescription eye drop is often used 4 times/day for a week. This almost always resolves the bump.
