Why if you're anemic can you not eat for an hour after taking my pill?

What pill?: Iron, b12, folate, (folic acid) something else? If you take iron pills on an empty stomach the iron is absorbed better, but many people have gastrointestinal (GI) discomfort. If iron is taken with food there are less GI side effects, but the absorption is not as good.
