Hair growth: Minoxidil, a medication that lowers blood pressure when taken orally, may favor hair growth on the crown of the scalp when applied on the area. It takes months to see any results and hair growth disappears when the applications are discontinued. It isn't as helpful for receding hairlines. In my experience the results are mixed and not as effective as hair transplants.
