Probable cyst: There are a number of conditions that cause lumps and bumps to appear on the surface of the skin or just below the skin. The most common are skin cysts and epidermoid cysts (aka sebaceous cysts) which is consistent with what you are describing. As long as "lump" is not painful and not changing in size and appearance, would just observe and have your doctor check it at your next routine visit.
