High fiber diet: Eat lots of fruits an vegetables, figs, dates, raisins and nuts. Eat high fiber cereals. 25-30 grams of fiber per day is helpful.

First clear liquids: Then advance to low residue diet over several days, after pain and fever subsides. Then gradually add fiber to your diet. Make sure you don't get constipated.
