Lesion of tongue: A white patch can be a sign of diagnosis that ranges from chronic tongue biting to cancer. We would need a complete medical history and medications you are on; habit history(including tobacco usage); and a complete exam. One item that varies in size can be a 'geographic' tongue. Based on above is the only way be can tell if it is safe to only follow or if you need a biopsy now.

Good decision : Getting a biopsy is the right and the shortest way to go. So diagnosis and subsequent treatment is fast..

Great: Unless a doctor is 100% sure about a lesion (which is unusual) step one recommendation is always to get a biopsy to know what we are dealing with and the best way to treat, remove or monitor. Take if from there.
