A member asked:

41 y/o f, non-smoker.had oral biopsy that came back mild dysplasia with hyperkeratosis on side of tongue.i breathe through my mouth at night and get dry mouth, could this be the cause?trying to figure out cause.also, how serious is this biopsy result?

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, the result is not a cause for concern. If you have oral issues, like a tooth irregularity that may be rubbing against the tongue see your dentist. Wish you good health!
