Get an exam: If private dentists are unavailable or unaffordable, seek out a community health center in your area (assuming you are in the us). Many offer dental services.

For a toothache: There's not much you can do on your own other than avoid the stimulus (cold, hot, sweets, pressure), take some otc pain medication such as advil, motrin, aleve (naproxen) or what you would normally take for a headache, and see a dentist as soon as possible for treatment.

Simple solution: If you have a severe toothache, seek immediate help from your dentist before the problem becomes worse and more complicated. Remember, toothache pain will not go away on its own.

See dentist: Duration and severity are important, but you should see a dentist to determine the source and get treatment if necessary
