Pt says possible for disc bulge to shrink over time. how? same case as with degenerated disc?

Not the disc: The bulge itself may shrink over time. Pt is a good place to start. Degenerated discs are a part of life, just like hearing impairment and cataracts. If you are in pain, again, follow up with your doctors and pt at first. Drastic measures should only be taken whenever all else has failed.

Healing Process: Typically, herniated discs do not shrink once the initial healing process has completed. During healing, the herniated disc material may decrease, but discs do not generally lose size unless it is due to herniated (degenerating) discs becoming dehydrated over time. Weeks to Months: Generally most people can get relief from sciatic pain doing the conservative care within 3-6 weeks. If it persists after that, it can take up to 6 months to heal by itself. Consider core strengthening exercises while you are on your own at home. You may still be a candidate for epidural steroid injections that may help relieve the pain while your body heals itself.
