See dentist: Antibiotic should be working in about 3-4 days . But if you have an abscess, it will need to be drained. I hope you are seeing a dentist to have this taken care of.

Abcess pain: Take Ibuprofen along with the antibiotics. This is only temporary and the degree of pain relief depends on the severity of the infection. If the tooth is not treated the pain will return. See your dentist asap for treatment.

Tooth Abcess: Unfortunately, you cannot rely on antibiotics alone to relieve the pain. A dentist has to treat the source of pain as well. You might get lucky and the antibiotics along with some otc pain medication might help, but again, no guarantee of that. I would recommend you see a dentist asap for definitive treatment and rx for stronger pain medication just in case it's necessary.
