Symptoms: Treatment is based on symptoms, neurological exam, as well as radiographic findings. Pure neck pain is generally treated conservatively. The presence of nerve root or spinal cord compression is important to consider as well as symptoms of weakness and/or numbness which could change the type of treatment. This all needs to be discussed with his doctor. If minimal symptoms, no treatment is needed.
