Different causes: Although most people do you think of this as only occurring in patients with HIV this is not true. If you have had an organ transplant, hematologic disease or in normal children this can occur. Since this is not contagious it is not treated with antibiotics. It can be treated with antihistamines to relieve the itch and ultraviolet light therapy.

The reason is likely because of the weakened immune system, though HIV may also cause a change in the immune system.
