Dangers: For one, postponing treatment for self-injury can result in dangers that depend on the type and severity of injury. Some of these injuries can be fatal, and require immediate medical attention. Longer term, the tendency to self-injure needs to be treated since it will only worsen without it. This means addressing the illness and/or suffering that leads to self-injury. It won't just go away.
