TMJ:Treatable: There are things you can do. If mild and temporary: otc pain medication for a few days, hot moist heat to outside of face just in front of your ears, soft diet, no gum chewing. More than that you will have to see a dentist for an evaluation and treatment. This may include a night guard.

TMJ can be cured.: Most TMJ patients can be successfully treated. Most important aspect is seeing a TMJ who can accurately diagnose the problem. Most patients can be successfully treated with a variety of conservative treatment modalities including medication, splints, physical therapy, Botox and other modalities.

TMJ is manageable: Most people with TMD have relatively mild or periodic symptoms which may improve on their own within weeks or months with simple home exercises and conservative remedies.
