A member asked:

What type of catheter is put in the cervix after it has been dilated since it was closed? how long is the catheter left in for/possible complications?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Open ; closed ?: Once the cervix is dilated then it will slowly "close" without any catheter intervention which is normal. If the diagnosis was cervical stenosis we do not place a catheter to keep it "open" as it can be a conduit for infection.
