Rest in bed for --: No more than 2 days + take a pain med (like advil (ibuprofen) or aleve), a muscle relaxer, apply a heating pad for 20-30 minutes x 3-4 times a day, and start stretching exercises. If not improving after 3-5 days, or if you develop numbness in toes/foot or leg, see pcp for further evaluation/investigations. Good luck.
