A member asked:

They say that teeth move and shift over a period of years, is that why we don't usually feel them moving?

Teeth shift: Teeth may shift very, very slowly over long periods of time. Anyway you are correct about why we don't feel them moving. With healthy stable mouths and good occlusions (bite) there is practically no shifting over a lifetime.

Exactly: If they do shift, it is a very, very slow process, and that is why it goes unnoticed.

Exactly: Know that malocclusion, clenching/grinding, gum disease w bone loss, systemic problems such as diabetes, loss of 1 or more teeth without replacement, and many other problems can exacerbate destabilization. See your dentist to establish a base-line.
