Very common: If this filing is very old, you may have a fracture in the tooth under the filling. Be careful and get evaluated by a dentist. Solutions, may be a crown.

Dr Juliao right: Probably a fractured tooth. May also be broken filling, recurrent decay, over contoured restoration in opposing tooth, etc. Please see your family dentist to determine the exact cause of your discomfort and for a discussion of the many solutions that are available. Know that putting this off will only allow the tooth to deteriorate.
