What does the fda do actually?

Protect your health: The website of the us food and drug administration has a headline that states their purpose is to "protect and promote your health". They do this by approving the sale of new drugs/biologics/devices that have an impact on health, regulating and monitoring the food supply, and issuing recalls and alerts on unsafe products.
