See an eye doc ASAP: It sounds like you had a vitreous detachment (pvd)which is very common after age 50 or earlier if the person is myopic or had h/o an eye trauma. 90% people of the time the person has no issue except floater and occasional flashes for 2-4 months. About 10% of the patients may develope retinal tear or detachment. Since you have a new symptoms with periph shadow you need to see an ophth asap.
