May need antibiotic: The hand should be elevated and washed twice a day with mild soap followed by silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) cream if not allergic. Commonly silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) if left on for several hours may turn a greenish color and brown when mixed with old blood. The hand should be elevated above the heart to diminish swelling. Contact your physician for a follow up.

See a Doctor at once: The fact that the second degree burn is draining profusely, especially greenish drainage) and the hand is very swollen is indicative of an infection which has to be treated immediately with antibiotics. Also the burn wound has to be debrided removing all of the dead tissues. You must consult your physician immediately.
