Burns: It is important to keep area clean with soap and water and continue to use silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) as directed. It is important to have her evaluated by a board certified plastic surgeon or burn surgeon who treats burn injuries. The are burn centers across the nation as well. She may also need a hand specialist and physical therapist.

Second degree burn: The burn should be well on the way to being healed and may not need to be wrapped or silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) needed.

Give it more time: Second degree burns take awhile to fully heal, give it one more week or two.

May take more: Time, but studies show that burns which take more than 2 weeks to heal have a much higher rate of permanent scarring.
