Too Early to Tell: It is normal and expected to have pain 3 days after gallbladder surgery. If the pain is out of the ordinary, it is critical to follow-up with your surgeon since our first concern is to look for a post-op complication. Possible but low: There are many causes of right sided and rib pain this soon after your gallbladder surgery. In general, if you are free of fevers and vomiting your are inside a normal recovery. If you do have a sphincter of oddi problem, your surgeon will be able to determine this by your symptoms and your lab work, which will be elevated. Slow down on food, and increase your hydration.
