Generally, symptoms : Can resolve due to either condition the majority of the time without surgery as the only reason for surgery would be a failure of nonop care to control symptoms. If the pars defect was an acute fracture it has the potential to heal without surgery. But even if it doesn't or if not an acute fracture type, 90% are treated non op while only 15% of stenosis cases end up with surgical intervention.
