Drug interaction: Luvox (fluvoxamine) doesn't directly "act on" melatonin. Instead, it inhibits the enzyme [cyp 1a2] which helps break melatonin down in your body. This increases the amount of melatonin that your body absorbs -- thereby increasing its effects and side effects. And yes, Luvox (fluvoxamine) is the only ssri which acts so potently on cyp 1a2.

Fluvoxamine: Agree with Dr. Pappas. Luvox does not act directly on melatonin. “It has been suggested that the beneficial effects of fluvoxamine on sleep may be related to its inhibitory effect on melatonin degradation; this effect has not been observed with other SSRIs (85, 86).” REF: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1448696/
